How to Spot Factory Subcontracting

The Wall Street Journal’s front-page story about one garment worker-turned-entrepreneur, Zulficar Ali explored the role of subcontracting both in his business and in the Bangladesh garment industry in general.

Subcontracting is a concern because often subcontract firms don’t meet the same safety standards in place at the factory that originally received the order.

One of the first things to keep an eye on, when trying to minimize subcontracting is the fabric.
